KCP wishes to thank the Bedford-Stuyvesant publication Our Time Press for compiling and providing to us the following list. Rather it is to point out man’s inhumanity towards man, something we all – no matter the race, religion, culture or otherwise – should be conscious about. In posting this list, KCP wants to emphasize that this is not to divide one group of people against another in this day and age of identity politics. So in an effort to forgive but never forget, the following is a state-by-state list of black Americans lynched or murdered through another means during this Jim Crow era. While we as a country often talk about the brutal slavery of blacks from Africa that helped enrich and empower our country, what is seldom discussed are the countless black men, women and children that were brutally tortured, raped, mutilated, burned at the stake, shot and lynched during America’s brutal Jim Crow years. Now as the country celebrates Black History Month, we often look at the contributions that many great black Americans have made and continue to make to this country. Thus, we as a people, have museums and often show graphic and horrific photos of this inhumane time least we forget. Editor’s Note: As a Jew, I was taught to forgive about the holocaust that took some 6 million Jewish lives during World War II, but to never forget.
